Letter: QAA alternative exists (3)

Roderick Floud notes that inspection does have some value in that it results in the painting of corridors and the purchasing of books and computers (Opinion, THES , March 23). Perhaps institutions could make a better job of providing these essentials if the QAA were disbanded and the resultant savings given to universities?
