November 22, 2002

As a highly practical male academic I find Angela Clow's comment, "one of the roles I play in this department is to be the woman and point this sort of thing out", sexist and objectionable ("All in a Day's Work", THES , November 15).

There is no correlation between gender and practicality. It is a matter of personality.
