The Technical University of Sofia was founded in 1945 and remains the largest technical university in Bulgaria.

It was established as part of the Higher Technical School (later renamed to State Polytechnic) and was granted university status in 1995 when it received its current name.

Students can study a variety of subjects at undergraduate, graduate and PhD level within the following faculties: automation, electronic engineering and technology, electrical engineering, power engineering and power machines, computer systems and control, mechanical engineering, machine technology, management, transport, applied mathematics and informatics, applied physics, and engineering and pedagogy.

Courses are taught in English. It also has three additional faculties with education only in German, English and French.

All of the faculties are spread across five separate campuses across Bulgaria, which are: Sofia, Plovdiv, Sliven, Botevgrad and Kazanlak.

On campus, in addition to classrooms and lecture halls, there’s a university publishing house, resources centre and a language centre dedicated to foreign language learning. There’s also a separate building with a sports centre, which houses an olympic size swimming pool and a number of other sports halls for students to compete.

The Technical University of Sofia has established relationships with universities around the world, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad. The university welcomes students to its campus for two semesters.

Position Summary We are seeking an inspiring and forward-thinking Academic Dean to lead the academic delivery and strategic development of our transnational education programmes in Rehabilitation&Exercise Therapy and Public Health Management. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the exceptional quality, integrity, and successful delivery of the UK curriculum at CDUTCM-Keele campus, Chengdu, China. The ideal candidate will be an academic leader with deep knowledge of the UK higher education system, a strong background in the health sciences industry, and a proven experience to bridge British academic standards with the needs of a dynamic international setting. We welcome applicants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds who are passionate about education, innovation, and global engagement. Key Responsibilities Academic Leadership & Quality Enhancement Serve as the academic authority on the UK curriculum, ensuring all programmes adhere to the standards of the UK partner university and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) framework. Maintain and manage a comprehensive quality assurance system for the full teaching process, including curriculum design review, instructional supervision, and assessment/evaluation standardisation. Proactively identify and address teaching quality issues by implementing advanced UK pedagogical methods and assessment tools. Faculty Development & Operational Oversight Mentor and manage a diverse team of UK and local faculty, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Oversee teaching operations including timetabling, performance review, and faculty development. Coordinate effectively with Chinese faculty leadership to ensure seamless integration and optimisation of the Sino-UK curriculum systems. Curriculum Innovation & Industry Alignment Ensure programmes remain relevant, future-focused, aligning with UK academic standards and evolving industry needs in rehabilitation therapy and health management. Integrate real-world healthcare experience into academic content to enhance graduate employability. Lead periodic curriculum reviews and enhancement initiatives. Strategic Engagement & Partnership Building Serve as the primary academic liaison between CDUTCM and Keele University, ensuring the local institute's alignment with and adherence to rigorous UK academic standards. Build strong relationships with UK partner faculty, local Chinese staff, and students. Champion international collaboration and contribute to the Institute's strategic growth. Selection Criteria - Who We’re Looking For Essential Qualifications & Experience A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Rehabilitation, Public Health, Allied Health, Health Services Management, or a closely related field from a recognised university outside China A minimum of 5 years of International HE teaching and/or administrative experience, including a mid-senior leadership role. Demonstrated expertise in clinical practice, healthcare management, or applied health sciences. Proven track record in academic quality assurance, curriculum design, assessment moderation, and governance. Experience implementing innovative pedagogies and driving continuous improvement in teaching and learning. Strong operational insight into academic delivery, including scheduling, resource planning, and performance management. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor faculty teams, fostering professional development and collaboration. Experience aligning academic programmes with industry trends to enhance graduate employability. Success in leading programme reviews and curriculum enhancement initiatives. Effective cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in diverse, international teams. Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Track record in project leadership and impactful industry experience in Chemical Process Technology. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in unit operations (e.g. Heat Exchanger, Distillation Column, Reactors, Cooling Tower etc). Practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems and Engineering standards including but not limited to ISO9001, OSHA and BSI etc. Practiced in Chemical Process Design software (for e.g. HYSYS) Proficiency in analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and related methods, with a focus on biopharmaceutical analysis would be an advantage. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

Description The newly established NYUAD Wireless Research Center at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate (PDA) to engage in cutting-edge research on channel modeling and characterization for communication and sensing in emerging spectrum for 6G and beyond, with a focus on the FR3, THz and optical frequency bands. This research will be conducted under the joint supervision of Marwa Chafii, and Murat Uysal. Principal Responsibilities The PDA will conduct extensive channel measurement campaigns to provide a comprehensive characterization of the ISAC channel models characterizing the interaction between sensing and communication. The PDA is also expected to contribute to optical channel modeling, particularly for comparative analysis with THz bands, where RF signals exhibit quasi-optical properties. The PDA is expected to actively disseminate results through publications in high-impact journals and presentations at leading international conferences. The PDA is expected to contribute to the intellectual property development through patent filings, as well as participating in standardization efforts relevant to wireless technologies, in coordination with academic and industrial collaborators. Qualifications Applicants must hold a PhD degree in electrical/electronics engineering, telecommunications or related field. Other requirements include Expertise in several areas among the following is desired: radio system modeling, electromagnetics, antennas, propagation, RF frontends, radar.
