Job description: ACER invites applications for open rank positions to work as post-doctoral researchers in Carbon-Negative, Capture, Utilization, and Storage. The open rank positions advertised are an excellent opportunity for talented and highly motivated candidates to join a highly-motivated team and contribute to this important and exciting field of research Position Requiremets: The primary roles of the chosen candidates are to contribute to the expansion of research programs concerning Carbon Negative, Capture, Utilization, and Sequestration by demonstrating at least some of the following competencies. Experimental development, testing, and demonstration of novel CCUS technologies. Process simulation, cost, life cycle, and social assessment of CCUS value chains. Reactor design, optimization, and sizing using phenomenological and/or CFD methods. Energy system analysis. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to interpret and analyze simulation and/or experimental results. Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams that involve experimentalists and modelers. Criteria of candidates: PhD in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Energy, Applied Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines, with a focus on reactor and process design and development. Strong motivation and passion for research in the field of CCUS/decarbonization/Carbon management. Proven ability to perform multidisciplinary research and contribute to funded research programs. Proven ability to the planning, sourcing, and development of new initiatives and ongoing research activities. Proven ability to identify and fulfill the academic writing requirements for developing proposals, reports, and scientific publications. Demonstrated understanding of operational requirements for a successful research project and managing time and resources. Good English communication skills, both verbal and written, are important. Postdoctoral fellow Position in Omics and Soil Microbiome Research (2 years) The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a Postdoctoral fellow position to join an interdisciplinary research project focused on metaproteomic analysis of soil microbial communities. This project aims to identify key genes and enzymes involved in mitigating salinity stress and improving soil health and crop productivity. These positions are part of a broader initiative to develop biofertilizers and sustainable agricultural strategies to combat soil degradation and salinization. Research will involve state-of-the-art metaproteomics, bioinformatics, and functional microbiome studies conducted in field trials, greenhouse experiments, and laboratory settings. This role will focus on the interactions between rhizosphere microbiota and plant roots, investigating how microbial enzymes enhance plant stress tolerance under salinity conditions. The successful candidate will: Conduct metaproteomic and genomic sequencing of microbial communities associated with plant roots. Identify microbial enzymes and functional pathways involved in nutrient acquisition and stress adaptation. Analyze plant-microbe interactions in response to salinity stress. Collaborate on biofertilizer development incorporating beneficial microbial enzymes. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Soil Science, Plant Science, Environmental Science, or a related field. Expertise in microbiome data analysis, metagenomics, or metaproteomics. Proficiency in bioinformatics tools for multi-omics data processing Strong publication record in relevant fields. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate across research groups. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in functional characterization of microbial enzymes. About the  project: This project aims to lower energy consumption and increase the water recovery of seawater desalination using the concept of desalination dilution by integrating a hybrid Forward Osmosis (FO) — Reverse Osmosis (RO) system. The work of this project includes lab work, computer modelling, life cycle assessment, and techno-economic study. The project will contribute to protecting water resources, promoting circular economic and zero liquid discharge concepts, and reducing the environmental impact of brine and unwanted water. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary research team who are working on a project funded by OCP Group. The successful postdoctoral applicant will manage an exciting project on membrane processes technology and small-scale testing for seawater desalination. He/she should demonstrate experience in membrane processes, water quality analysis, and lab and pilot-scale testing of water treatment and desalination processes. Required qualifications: The successful postdoctoral applicant will manage an exciting project on hybrid FO-RO desalination system and small-scale testing for seawater desalination applications. The candidate should have a PhD in Engineering (including Environmental, Civil or Chemical Engineering), Material Science or any other relevant field. The candidate should have excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (assessment of membrane processes and water quality analysis) are required. Experience in computational fluid dynamics modelling of water treatment and desalination processes is an advantage. Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary group. Demonstrated skills in scientific writing in the form of research journal articles, conference papers, or high-quality scientific reporting. Innovative, driven, out-of-the-box thinker, well-organized, self-motivated to investigate and implement new ideas, and proactive in overcoming obstacles. Good communication and presentation skills in English. French is an advantage. Skills in problem solving, analytical thinking, and planning.
