Founded in 1898, Northeastern University describes itself as a “global, experiential, research university built on a tradition of engagement with the world.”

The private institution has its main campus in the Fenway, Roxbury and Back Bay areas of Boston, Massachusetts, but has satellite campuses in other parts of the state.

Its reach is not limited to New England however, and Northeastern has graduate campuses in Charlotte, North Carolina, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Toronto.

It caters for over 24,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students who study under the Latin motto: Lux, Veritas, Virtus (Light, Truth, Courage).

The institution places great importance on global engagement and offers students learning opportunities with over 3000 partners in seven continents.

Faculty members regularly collaborate on research with colleagues on the other side of the world, and Northeastern alumni, trained as global, engaged citizens during their time at the university, are making their mark in 186 countries.

Northeastern has a proud sporting heritage, offering 18 varsity sports, 43 club sports, and 32 intramural sports – all playing under the Northeastern Huskies moniker.

The university has produced a wide-ranging list of notable alumni from a wide range of professional industries. Richard Egan and Roger Marino, co-founders of multinational EMC Corporation graduated from Northeastern in 1961. Jeff Clarke the CEO of Kodak took his MBA at the university.

Description The Center for Interdisciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CIDSAI) at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a highly motivated researcher to work on topics in the theoretical foundations of data science and AI. The selected candidate will be part of the Foundations Cluster of CIDSAI and will collaborate closely with Professor Saurabh Ray, Professor Keith Ross, and Professor Pierre Youssef. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong mathematical background and expertise in one or more of the following areas: High-dimensional probability and concentration/functional inequalities Markov processes and stochastic analysis Theoretical analysis of neural networks and deep learning Foundations of reinforcement learning and bandit algorithms Mathematical and algorithmic perspectives on large language models Statistical learning theory and complexity analysis Automated theorem proving and formal methods Random matrix theory and its applications in modern AI systems This position can be filled at either the Postdoctoral Associate level, depending on qualifications. The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal. Requirements: Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. We are seeking to appoint a new Research Fellow to join the School of Engineering at the University of Southampton, UK. This position is on a fixed term basis till the end of February 2027. This position focuses on the development of innovative microfluidic-based sensors for continuous, in-situ chemical and biochemical analysis. About the Role: The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team dedicated to designing and developing state-of-the-art microfluidic sensors. These sensors aim to address critical challenges in miniaturised chemical and biochemical assay and analysis, with applications spanning environmental monitoring and beyond. The position offers a rich mix of research, laboratory work, field testing in collaboration with industrial partners, and academic writing. Key Responsibilities: Develop chemical and biochemical assays and analyses, conduct comprehensive laboratory experiments, data analysis and reporting. Design, develop, and test microfluidic devices for miniaturised chemical and biochemical sensing. Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate sensor technology into broader systems. Participate in the planning and execution of in situ fieldwork, which includes travel. Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at international conferences. Requirements: PhD or equivalent qualifications and experience in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field. Strong and proven record in academic writing and publication in recognised journals. Extensive laboratory experience with a hands-on approach to chemical and biochemical assays and analysis. Proficiency in a wide range of analytical chemistry techniques and methodologies. Ability to travel or drive to various locations for in situ work as required. Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team. Desirable Skills: Experience in microfluidic device design and fabrication. Knowledge of sensor integration and data analysis. A proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.
