Full time 18-month fixed-term contract until 21/01/2028 Great Secondment opportunity Opportunity to develop, implement and manage a diverse range of events at The University of Sydney Business School HEO 7 Base Salary $117,133 - $127,610 p.a. + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Senior Project Officer (Events) is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a diverse range of events for the Business School's Dean, Faculty General Manager, Director, External Engagement & International, the Senior Leadership Team and external stakeholders across the Business School and wider community. This role works with the Director, External Engagement & International to deliver events that are strategically aligned with the Business School's priorities and long-term vision. The incumbent will also provide professional advice and guidance to other members of the Business School on events. Your key responsibilities will be to: manage and implement a wide range of events such as conferences, launches, luncheons, dinners, receptions, ceremonies and other events, of varying sizes develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with multiple event stakeholders across the Business School, University and external partners manage event finances including preparation and submission of journal transfers, supplier contracts, quote waivers, purchase orders, monitoring of event budgets and coordination of financial reports required manage event team performance and resourcing including event staffing, allocation of work, goal/target setting, and review of deliverables implement event risk analysis, mitigation and compliance procedures implement, manage and maintain online event management software (SwiftDigital), including supporting the administration of complex and paid events. About this position: We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (Post-Doc) to join the FWF ASTRA project RE-SECURE – Remaking Security: Technopolitics in the Global East, led by Dr. Dagmar Vorlíček, at the Department of Sociology. The project: RE-SECURE – Remaking Security: Technopolitics in the Global East explores how expertise developed under past political regimes can be renegotiated and adapted for new security purposes. Focusing on Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) as a region marked by profound political transformations from the Cold War to the present, the project rethinks the study of security by theorizing how ways of “doing security” are shaped by history, technology, and global connections. The project examines both the symbolic and material dimensions of remaking security, while combining desk research, archival work, and field research. By analysing how technoscientific practices interact with societal understandings of security risks and global politics, RE-SECURE aims to develop an original, historically grounded, and decentered perspective on security from the perspective of the “Global East.” Your future tasks: The postdoctoral researcher will lead a case study on cybersecurity in Estonia, examining how Cold War cybernetic expertise has been reworked in the context of post-socialist security transformation of Estonia, especially towards the digital statehood, cybersecurity, and cyber-defence politics. The case study research will involve document analysis, field research with scientists, experts, and policymakers, and archival work in Estonia. The postdoc will contribute to the theoretical and methodological research on the project and will collaborate closely with the Principal Invetsigator and PhD student. The Role and the Department Research and Innovation Services (RIS) provides guidance, expert advice and hands-on support for all aspects of research and research-related work, including securing funding, working with partners, undertaking knowledge exchange, demonstrating impact, commercialising outputs, ensuring good research practice and supporting professional development. This post sits within the Policy, Systems and Performance team in Research & Innovation Services (RIS). The team is responsible for the University's research information management systems, the overall governance and ethical framework for both funded and unfunded research & research related activities across the institution, support for institutional strategy development and the compilation of relevant returns including HEBCI, KEF, KEC and REF, as well as management information reporting relating to university research and knowledge exchange (RKE) activities. As Research Systems and Information Officer you will contribute to the implementation and development of the RIS RKE systems as well as training and communications about these systems across the University. Current research systems include Worktribe Research Management, Infonetica Ethics RM, and Dynamics CRM. You will contribute to ensuring our research systems are configured in the most optimal and user-friendly way and that any associated training and communications will be delivered in a clear, concise and timely manner. You will analyse research data and develop and present reports to key stakeholders You will report to the Senior Manager - Research Systems and Reporting but will work closely with colleagues across the Research and Innovation Services Directorate as well as colleagues in faculties, departments and across professional support services.
