Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), a business school established in 1964, forms one of the four faculties at Lancaster University, whose campus is south of the city of Lancaster. The business school is one of only a few in the world to hold quadruple accreditation, with the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and the Small Business Charter in the UK, the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) in Europe, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in America It offers study at all levels, bachelor degrees, MBAs, PhDs, and executive education for those already with experience. LUMS has worked in partnerships with many companies, such as AstraZeneca, British Airways, and BAE systems, as well as public sector organisations such as the NHS and the UK Cabinet Office. Several postgraduate programmes include modules designed and delivered by employers, including Deloitte, IBM, Accenture and Cisco. The school’s undergraduate degrees are partnered with Ernst & Young, allowing students to do two periods of paid work experience with the company. Research centres at LUMS include the Centre for Consumption Insights, the Centre for Productivity and Efficiency, and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. Many LUMS students participate in Lancaster University’s international exchange programme, doing Study Abroad programmes with partner universities in countries including the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Malaysia, Holland, Spain, France and Germany. The Position The Chinese Programme in the School of Humanities at Nanyang Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Global China, broadly conceived. We seek humanities scholars whose research on modern or contemporary China situates Chinese societies, cultures, and Chinese-language worlds within broader global and transregional contexts. The successful candidate will further global China-focused research and teaching in SoH, and also participate in CoHASS’s new Global Asian Research Centre. Research Profile Particular interest lies in research exploring cultural circulation, mobility, cities and everyday life, transregional connections, or knowledge, science, technology, and environmental practices in Chinese contexts. Geographical scope could be Asia-wide, Southeast Asian, African or more broadly global. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision, aligned with the Programme’s curriculum and research directions. While the administrative language of the University is English, candidates are also expected to be able to teach in Chinese. Requirements Requirements include: A PhD in or in a related field. About the job To lead the technical development, optimisation, validation, and field deployment of a smart optical nitrate sensor platform within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Queen's University Belfast. The post holder will support the progression of the technology from TRL 4/5 to TRL 6/7 under the Invest NI Proof of Concept (PoC) Stage 2 programme, ensuring robust analytical validation, prototype refinement, and preparation for commercialisation via spin-out or licensing. The role will combine advanced analytical chemistry, microfluidic systems development, and applied environmental testing with translational activity including prototype deployment, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory validation support. The post holder will work closely with the Academic Lead, Delivery Lead, QUBIS Commercialisation Manager, and external partners to de-risk the technology across technical and commercial dimensions. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Level A) to join a new research stream focused on digital twins as adaptive decision infrastructure for complex cyberphysical human systems, enabled by agentic and embodied AI. Working under the supervision of Dr Neda Mohammadi, the successful candidate will contribute to the development of new concepts, methods, and scalable systems for networked digital twins that support autonomous decision infrastructure for adaptive action with human oversight. This project is part of an ambitious research program to advance how digital twins, agentic AI, and cyberphysical systems can improve collective decision quality across interconnected sociotechnical systems such as cities, critical infrastructure, mobility, energy, emergency response, and resilience.
