International recognition

The University’s programmes have won international recognition. The School of Business gained accreditation from The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA), as well as the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development. The School of Communication was named one of the best journalism and media schools for Asian students by the website Asian Correspondent.

As part of an EPSRC-funded project which is close to completion, there is an opportunity for a researcher to join the team looking at adaptive estimation for a 4-month period. In particular, this researcher will look at the design and assessment of adaptive control systems for under water autonomous vehicles, with an emphasis on practical deployment. The successful applicant should have, or be expecting to have, a PhD in control systems engineering or a closely related field, ideally in adaptive control, robust control or similar; or equivalent industrial experience. Since the work is concentrated on autonomous underwater systems, the candidate should also have experience in the control of such systems, especially from a practical perspective. You will be working closely with Dr Matthew Turner and Dr. Andrea Lecchini-Visintini at the University of Southampton, UK and potentially with other colleagues associated with the project. The post will be full time for 4 months, starting from 1st April 2024 or soon after. The post will be based on the Highfield Campus in the School of Electronics and Computer Science.

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on a research project, funded by Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE), where you will be part of the research team to develop a scalable and comprehensive framework for formal verification of quantum programs. The framework consists of the following deliverables: Intermediate Language. We plan to develop an intermediate language to model quantum programs. The intermediate language would be complete to describe all the desired characteristics of quantum computing while at the same time simple enough to be understood by most programmers. Formal Verification Framework. We plan to develop a comprehensive framework to verify the correctness of quantum programs written in the proposed intermediate language. Mechanization. We plan to mechanize the formal framework using state-of-the-art theorem provers such as Coq or Isabelle/HOL. Proof Automation. We plan to develop formal methods for automatic reasoning that can be materialized into commercial tools. Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: develop an intermediate language to write quantum programs. develop a comprehensive framework to verify the correctness of quantum programs written in our intermediate language. mechanize the verification framework using state-of-the-art theorem provers such as Coq or Isabelle/HOL. develop formal methods for automatic reasoning that can be materialized into commercial tools. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements Have relevant competence in the areas of formal methods (including theorem proving and model checking), quantum computing, and software analysis/verification. Have a degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related areas. Possessing a Master degree will be advantageous. Knowledge of quantum circuit design and quantum program analysis/verification will be advantageous. We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join Dr Olorunniji’s team based at the LJMU School of Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences to take a leading role in the delivery of a 24-month project to uncover how proteins acquire moonlighting functions, using large serine recombinases (LSRs) and their directionality factors (RDFs) as a model. You will design, implement and benchmark machine learning pipelines for sequence-structure analysis and protein function prediction; lead genomic and transcriptomic analyses (including genome assembly and annotation). You will hold a PhD and a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology or a related discipline, with experience in protein sequence and structure analysis. You will also be fluent in the use of Python, and experienced in processing large scale sequencing datasets, constructing and maintaining sequence databases, molecular phylogenetics and genomic sequence analysis. Experience with deep learning for structural biology and bioinformatics, protein sequence/structure methods, and application of machine-learning approaches to biological problems are essential. You will be actively involved in regular communication with the Rice lab (University of Chicago) and will collaborate in the preparation of scientific reports and manuscripts and participate in selected meetings and conferences. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. XJTLU now has over 25,000 enrolled students in both Suzhou and Liverpool in the UK, with plans to grow to about 28,000 students by 2025.
