Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), a Deemed to be University under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 is a premier educational institution in the country imparting quality education. Over the last 38 years, GITAM has achieved many milestones and established a mark of its own in the field of higher education. GITAM is located at Visakhapatnam and has two off-campuses at Hyderabad and Bengaluru. GITAM is a multi-disciplinary and multi campus university offering various programs at UG, PG and doctoral levels in diverse disciplines such as Engineering & Technology, Architecture, Life Sciences, Social Sciences,  Physical Sciences, Arts & Humanities, Commerce & Management, International Business, Law, Pharmacy, Medicine and Nursing.

GITAM comprises of 16 Institutes, 10 Faculties, 52 Departments and 10 Research Centres and has students and research scholars hailing from almost all parts of the country. GITAM is endowed with about 1200+well qualified faculty having research and industrial background. The faculty have been undertaking major research projects with financial assistance from various funding agencies. The faculty are involved in professional practice and organizing executive development programmes in the emerging areas. The DST provided financial assistance under FIST programme to as many as seven academic departments.

The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) enables the students to have flexibility in learning with wider choices outside their disciplines of study in order to acquire the desirable skills to pursue the career of their choice. The University has established state-of-the-art infrastructure comprising well laid-out, elegantly designed and engineered buildings for administration, academic departments, research, knowledge resource centres, student support and sports facilities.

Centralized Research Laboratories were established in the thrust areas such as Water Quality, Nano-Technology, Medical Biotechnology, Advanced Materials & Processing, Chemical Analysis and Industrial Biotechnology. In addition, Central instrumentation and Heavy equipment facilities were also made available for the benefit of researchers.To augment with inter-disciplinary research, specialized research centers namely Cancer Research Center, Center for Urban & Sustainable Development, Centre for Integrated Rural Development, Centre for Climate Change & Disaster Management and Fire Research Center were established in collaboration with NGOs and industry. The University collaborated with Stanford Medical School, Stanford University, USA and Economic Development Board (EDB), Govt. of AP to establish a centre of excellence in life sciences and advanced biotechnology to undertake sponsored research. 

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, classified the University as category ‘I’ among the universities of its kind. The University is accredited by NAAC with “A+” Grade in 2017. Further, the UGC has accorded 12-B status to the University.The University has been accredited with ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management and ISO 27001:2013 for Information Security Management. Recently University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt. of India, has ‘graded’ GITAM as Category-I university and granted ‘graded autonomy’ to GITAM.

Those appointed at Associate Professor level will also be expected to lead collaborative and interdisciplinary initiatives in research and knowledge exchange, mentor and nurture the next generation of scholars and researchers, and assume high-level service/administrative responsibilities. Requirements Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a closely related field, with a strong commitment to research and teaching, a solid track record in or strong potential for research, scholarly publications, and competitive external funding. What We Offer The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years initially, to commence as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance. Exceptionally outstanding candidates at Associate Professor level may be considered for appointment on tenure terms, subject to the University’s approval. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Description The Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to improve patient care by developing new machine learning methodologies that tackle unique computational problems in healthcare applications. We use large real-world complex datasets, including data extracted from electronic health records and medical images, for applications pertaining to patient diagnostics and prognostics. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team and make significant contributions to the field. The researcher is expected to have (i) strong machine learning skills to improve model performance and robustness, and (ii) exemplary passion and motivation to pursue multidisciplinary research at the intersection of computing and healthcare. Methodologies of interest include: Multi-modal learning Foundation models, including large language models Agentic AI Multi-agent AI systems Transfer learning Self-supervised learning Federated learning The Postdoctoral Researcher will be primarily based at NYU Abu Dhabi. The researcher will report directly to Dr. Farah Shamout and work in close collaboration with other researchers, PhD students, and undergraduate research assistants. The researcher will engage with our regular collaborators across the NYU campuses and local medical institutions in the UAE. Key Responsibilities Research Support the supervisor in developing and implementing the research agenda; Conduct high-quality and innovative research primarily focused on ML methodology development for healthcare; Generate new high-impact ideas based on gaps and limitations of the state-of-the-art (SOTA); Design and implement experiments to compare proposed work with SOTA baselines; Publish research findings in high-impact journals and conferences; Communicate and present research findings at international academic gatherings; Create, maintain, and document high-quality research code for reproducibility; Maintain good practice in managing and accessing sensitive medical datasets; Assist the supervisor in the preparation of grant applications (as appropriate); And collaborate with scientists within the NYU Global Network and in Abu Dhabi.
