Cardiff Metropolitan University (Prifysgol Metropolitan Caerdydd in Welsh) was known as the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) until 2011, although it has maintained its close links with the University of Wales. In November 2021, Cardiff Met was awarded UK and Ireland University of 2021 by Times Higher Education. The award recognises Cardiff Met's achievements throughout the 2019/20 academic year and the ways in which the university has established itself as a progressive values-driven university with an excellent student experience, staff culture and impactful research and innovation. It consists of five academic schools: Cardiff School of Education and Social Policy; Cardiff School of Art and Design; Cardiff School of Management; Cardiff School of Technology, and Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences. The Llandaff and Cyncoed campuses are within a three-mile radius of central Cardiff, and facilities include the famous National Indoor Athletics Centre, the National Lawn Tennis Association Centre and a sports centre that allows for the disabled and able-bodied to train together. It holds sport in high regard and typically falls within the BUCS top 20 institutions (the governing body for British Universities and Colleges Sport). CMU has produced hundreds of international sports stars in over 30 different sports, including seven national rugby coaches, 15 British Lions and several Olympic gold medallists. Cardiff Metropolitan University's student football team plays in the Welsh Premier League (promoted in 2017). Fashion designer Julien MacDonald and TV presenter John Inverdale are also among its alumni.

At the same time, you’ll benefit from being part of a creative and experienced team of developers within King’s Digital, working to make Moodle more usable and functional for staff and students. ​The role is primarily based at King’s Waterloo campus (James Clerk Maxwell Building), with flexibility to work remotely as part of King’s hybrid working model.  About the role  This role sits within the Web Development team in King’s Digital and works in close collaboration with the Digital Education directorate to enhance the platforms and environments that shape the learning experience at King’s College London. The role is focused on improving the virtual learning environment that supports our online and blended courses, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of students and educators alike.  Working in collaboration with other team members, you will work on developing our learning environment according to UX hand-off and accessibility requirements. You will also write clear, concise documentation to support its use and provide technical and process support to those using our functionality, including the wider university community. With both excellent technical and communication skills, you will support our team to build the best possible e-learning product for our students.  Key Responsibilities: Develop, customise, and maintain King’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other Digital Education tools, following the briefs provided by our UX team  Develop clever and efficient solutions to technological problems, including exploring ideas for innovative project solutions leveraging tech effectively (eg APIs and querying, effective selection and use of frameworks)  Develop custom Moodle child themes using SCSS pipeline, and JavaScript modules. Ensure the quality of our product and code through proactive thinking and vigorous testing, as well as iterative improvement  Optimise Moodle performance, accessibility, and front-end behaviours. Engage with open-source development projects and represent King’s College London, as well as King’s Digital and Digital Education in the communities around them Conduct regular testing and optimisation to ensure platform stability, scalability and security. About us The post will be based in the KCL Social, Genetic, and Developmental Psychiatry Centre, within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN). The centre offers a diverse research environment that is open, welcoming and supportive to all. The faculty-wide initiatives are supported by an active Diversity & Inclusion Team. The Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre is uncovering the genetic and environmental influences on mental health and psychiatric disorders. Our research encompasses behavioural genetics, molecular genetics, experimental psychology and psychiatry, and neuroimaging. Scientists at the SGDP lead some of the UK’s foremost longitudinal cohort and twin studies including TEDS, eRISK, Dunedin, IMAGEN and GLAD. The NIHR BioResource Centre Maudsley leads the NIHR BioResource for Mental Health. We focus on recruiting participants experiencing mental health conditions, as well as healthy people. Alongside GLAD MHG and The GLAD study, Prof. Breen’s team boasts an accomplished portfolio of clinical and genetic studies which aim to improve treatment and outcomes for those affected by anxiety, depression, eating disorders and other mental health conditions. About the role We are seeking a passionate and committed Lived Experience Researcher to join Professor Gerome Breen’s internationally recognised team at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience at King’s College London. This unique role sits within the GLAD-MHG Omics Cohort, one of the UK’s most ambitious precision psychiatry initiatives, hosted in the NIHR BioResource Centre Maudsley and supported by the UK Government’s Office for Life Sciences. The GLAD-MHG Omics Cohort, supported by a prestigious award from the UK Government’s Office for Life Sciences, builds on the existing NIHR BioResource GLAD Study (>38,000 participants) and is based at KCL’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience. The new programme will recruit an additional 12,000 individuals with recurrent MDD, including 2,500 with longitudinal biosampling. High-quality blood samples will be collected for whole-genome sequencing, epigenetics, and biomarker profiling, alongside detailed digital phenotyping (wearables, speech AI) and NHS medical record linkage. All data will be securely integrated and curated within the DATAMIND Trusted Research Environment, ensuring national and international impact. As a Lived Experience Researcher, you will ensure that participant perspectives are embedded throughout the project – from shaping recruitment and study materials, to guiding analytical priorities and interpreting results. You will work closely with researchers, clinicians, and industry partners, ensuring that this internationally significant dataset is not only scientifically rigorous but also authentically patient-centred. The role will be hosted in the highly supportive departmental environment of the Social, Genetic, and Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP) Centre. You will work with a team committed to incorporating lived experience expertise and supporting lived experience researchers within our group. This is a rare opportunity to influence one of the world’s largest and most deeply characterised mental health cohorts, to further develop skills at the interface of research and public involvement, and to make a lasting impact on the future of precision psychiatry. Provide support for clinical trials conducted in general practice that aim to improve health outcomes for people with musculoskeletal pain Part-time (0.5FTE) fixed-term opportunity until 31 March 2027 Base Salary $89,755 (pro rata) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Institute for Musculoskeletal Health is an academic research organisation that runs studies to improve global health outcomes. We do this by bringing together world-leading experts in trials (design, methods, and conduct), biostatistics, patient-reported outcomes, health economics, translational research, research synthesis, and health technology assessment. Collaborative partnerships help us to ensure trial results best inform clinical practice. The Institute for Musculoskeletal Health is part of the University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH). Our researchers work collaboratively with researchers within the FMH and across the University to advance the quality and effectiveness of research. The Clinical Trial Assistant works as part of the clinical trials research team in a support role to perform general administrative duties for the COMFORT and SAGE trials - trials designed to support general practitioners optimise the management of people with low back and neck pain. The Clinical Trial Assistant tasks include: site visits and site monitoring, patient-participant follow-up, preparing documents, maintaining records, data entry, updating and collating materials, responding to queries and exploring and sourcing solutions for the trial team and collaborative groups. This role will involve travel between associated sites, University precincts and other locations as required.
