The University of Lorraine is composed of four universities in the Lorraine region, about an hour and half from Paris by train. These were merged into one in 2012, and include three universities in Nancy, the city in the south of Lorraine, along with a university in Metz, the northernmost city of the region. The universities in Nancy, are Henri Poincaré, which focusses on the sciences and health and technology; Nancy 2, which focusses on human and social sciences, law, economics and management, and the National Polytechnic Institute, which is an amalgamation of several engineering schools. These were founded in the 20th century, though the original University of Nancy was founded in 1572. Metz’ university, Paul Verlaine University, was created in 1970. Campuses are situated throughout the region in over 52 sites, both in the heart of the cities of Nancy and Metz, close to train stations and culture, as well as nestled away in the woods. The Nancy sites are focussed on biological sciences, health care, administration, and management, while Metz is focussed on material sciences, technology and management. There are 26 libraries, as well as access to all libraries of its partner universities (University of the Saar, University of Luxembourg University of Liège, University of Trier and University of Kaiserslautern). Sports facilities include the biggest climbing wall in Lorraine, as well as a fencing room and opportunities for wheelchair sports. Through the years of the member institutions, alumni have included many prominent scientists, philosophers and politicians, such as the University of Nancy’s Raymond Poincaré, the French statesman who served three times over as the 58th Prime Minister of France and from 1913 to 1920 as the President of France.

Job Purpose The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralized pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers come with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in SIT, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum. Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry. In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in SIT. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in POD, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in SIT. Key Responsibilities Design and teach labs & practice modules. Mentor students in Capstone Projects and the Integrated Work Study Programme (IWSP). Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry. Manage labs and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research. Ensure safety in labs. Job Requirements A good degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related fields. Possessing a Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. Deep technical specialist with 10 or more years of working experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering environment. Have deep, hands-on competence in the following areas: High voltage switching Engineering design, modelling & analysis of conventional power, wind & solar farms Engineering design of transmission & distribution substations, electrical distribution systems of industries and commercial buildings Power system protection application and relay coordination Digital/Analogue/Power electronics IoT/Micro-controller application It will be advantageous with working knowledge of/as: Knowledge in programming/using Python, MATLAB, LTspice, IoT platform. Authorised high voltage switching Engineer Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge of industry practices and engineering principles to bring industry perspective to SIT Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possess industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage.

Job Purpose At SIT's Professional Officers Division, we bring our rich industry experience and technical skills into our work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place. We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and to strengthen & energise our industry and the wider community. A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: participate in and manage innovation projects, manage digital technology related resources, and mentor & facilitate student learning. The Centre for Digital Enablement (CoDE) drives the initiatives to elevate digital competencies for academic staff and students within SIT. It works with various stakeholders, both internal and external, in upskilling digital literacy across the organization through literacy programmes and digital innovation projects in relation to the Digital Learning Spaces (DLS). For this role, you will spearhead the various AI enablement programmes in SIT, manage the AI related resources and initiatives within CoDE, and lead AI projects within SIT and with industry partners to support teaching and learning objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy courses to undergraduate students and academic staff as part of the institutional drive to ensure our graduates are ready for a highly digitally-enabled workforce. Additionally, you’ll be required to mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Key Responsibilities AI Enablement Programmes Lead and oversee a range of AI enablement programmes to facilitate the growth of AI skills among SIT undergraduate students and academic staff. Develop an AI Competency Roadmap, providing guidance for SIT undergraduate students and academic staff in developing their AI competencies. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI, ensuring the continued relevancy and currency of the AI enablement programmes and AI Competency Roadmap. Manage AI-related resources within the division such as the administration of software, hardware systems, and equipment. AI Projects Drive AI projects within CoDE to support teaching and learning objectives. Collaborate with industry partners, faculty, Professional Officers and other stakeholders to conduct applied research in AI related technologies. Supervise and mentor students in the development of AI projects. Teaching & Student Mentorship Develop and deliver digital skills literacy related courses or workshops to undergraduate students and staff. This includes development of learning contents and activities, providing consultations on digital skills/technology related queries, and assessment and grading of students’ work. Mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Any other matters as directed by Director/Deputy Director of CoDE. Job Requirements A good degree in Computer Science or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. 10+ years of working experience, including at least 5 in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Analytics, or a related area.SIT Internal Proven experience in developing and deploying AI solutions. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar. Proficiency in data preprocessing, model training, and evaluation techniques. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Possess strong supervisory skills and project management skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure that the project can meet the milestones adhering to the stipulated timeline. Enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment.

Description The Robot Learning & Control Lab (REAL Lab) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking an outstanding Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research in robot intelligence, machine learning, and AI-driven manipulation. This position offers the opportunity to work on real-world robotic systems and develop novel algorithms at the intersection of robot learning, control, and AI for physical systems. The postdoc will work on projects focusing on one or more of the following: Robot Learning & Autonomy – Developing algorithms that allow robots to learn (via exploration or imitation) from interaction, adapt to new tasks, and generalize across environments. Dexterous Manipulation – Advancing robotic grasping, in-hand manipulation, and adaptable object handling in complex real-world scenarios, including those involving deformable objects and uncertain conditions.. Semantic Navigation & Mapping – Designing solutions for robot navigation, for Mobile Manipulators, that integrate environmental semantics and spatial reasoning. AI for Physical Systems – Leveraging machine learning and AI to improve performance, safety, and adaptability of robots, autonomous vehicles, and other intelligent machines. Safe and Certified Control for manipulation: Designing control algorithms that ensure passivity, Lyapunov stability, and safety for human-robot collaboration. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Robotics, Control Engineering, Machine Learning, AI, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong focus on robot manipulation learning & control, and differential geometry is a plus. Knowledge of safe control methods including Lyapunov stability, barrier functions, and certified learning frameworks.
