Keith O'Brien, Scotland's Roman Catholic cardinal, has urged Canadian students to "seriously consider" coming to live in Scotland, reversing more than two centuries of emigration from the old country. Cardinal O'Brien, speaking at a graduation ceremony at St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he received an honorary LlD, called on young Canadians to help build the "new Scotland". Cardinal O'Brien said Scotland's population was set to plummet in the coming decades and highlighted the Scottish Executive's Fresh Talent initiative to attract overseas students.
