A new Italian law threatens purchasers of graduation theses with a prison sentence of at least six months if the offence is discovered after graduation. Notice of the offence must also go on public display at all of the country's universities. Sellers, who previously risked up to six months' imprisonment and who commonly advertise in the local press, now risk at most a minor administrative infringement.
