About us The School for Government at King’s College London is dedicated to creating a world led with intelligence, integrity and innovation through our research and education programmes. We are located within the Policy Institute at King’s, which is a unique school within King’s, bringing together the best of rigorous academic research, the nimbleness of consultancy, and the policy focus of a think tank. About the role We are looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Public Policy to work within the School for Government at King’s. This role will be a senior member of the academic staff of the school and contribute to the academic life of the School, as well as the wider Policy Institute, of which we are a part. The candidate will be expected to have, and to build, an active research pipeline in their chosen field. They will be supported to bid for and deliver research grants and contracts and will also be encouraged and supported to supervise doctoral students, and to play an active and leading role in the Policy Institute’s Doctoral Programme, Executive Education programmes, or another strategic domain. The role requires an experienced individual who understands the contribution of continuing professional development and executive education for public servants. The candidate will have knowledge of the policy sector in the UK, and preferably experience working in the public sector. The postholder will have an excellent teaching record and the ability to develop innovative teaching content and delivery methods. Experience of online content delivery is ideal but not essential. This is an exciting time for the School for Government, and so we welcome candidates with an entrepreneurial approach to their work. Description The Robot Learning & Control Lab (REAL Lab) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking an outstanding Post-Doctoral Associate to contribute to cutting-edge research in robot intelligence, machine learning, and AI-driven manipulation. This position offers the opportunity to work on real-world robotic systems and develop novel algorithms at the intersection of robot learning, control, and AI for physical systems. The postdoc will work on projects focusing on one or more of the following: Robot Learning & Autonomy – Developing algorithms that allow robots to learn (via exploration or imitation) from interaction, adapt to new tasks, and generalize across environments. Dexterous Manipulation – Advancing robotic grasping, in-hand manipulation, and adaptable object handling in complex real-world scenarios, including those involving deformable objects and uncertain conditions.. Semantic Navigation & Mapping – Designing solutions for robot navigation, for Mobile Manipulators, that integrate environmental semantics and spatial reasoning. AI for Physical Systems – Leveraging machine learning and AI to improve performance, safety, and adaptability of robots, autonomous vehicles, and other intelligent machines. Safe and Certified Control for manipulation: Designing control algorithms that ensure passivity, Lyapunov stability, and safety for human-robot collaboration. Qualifications: Applicants must have a PhD in Robotics, Control Engineering, Machine Learning, AI, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong focus on robot manipulation learning & control, and differential geometry is a plus. Knowledge of safe control methods including Lyapunov stability, barrier functions, and certified learning frameworks. Hands-on experience with robotic manipulators (preferebly Franka Emika R3 robots) and real-world experimentation. Demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation, research-oriented thinking, and a drive to operationalize robotic systems for real-world tasks. Strong publication record in top-tier venues: ICRA, IROS, RA-L, T-RO, IJRR, CoRL, NeurIPS, RSS, CDC, TAC. Proficiency in Python, C++, ROS, and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary research environment. Job Purpose At SIT's Professional Officers Division, we bring our rich industry experience and technical skills into our work, creating a better physical environment where learning and innovation take place. We work with teaching programmes and innovation projects to improve the skills of our students and to strengthen & energise our industry and the wider community. A Professional Officer has a combination of job responsibilities relating to the following: participate in and manage innovation projects, manage digital technology related resources, and mentor & facilitate student learning. The Centre for Digital Enablement (CoDE) drives the initiatives to elevate digital competencies for academic staff and students within SIT. It works with various stakeholders, both internal and external, in upskilling digital literacy across the organization through literacy programmes and digital innovation projects in relation to the Digital Learning Spaces (DLS). For this role, you will spearhead the various AI enablement programmes in SIT, manage the AI related resources and initiatives within CoDE, and lead AI projects within SIT and with industry partners to support teaching and learning objectives. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering digital literacy courses to undergraduate students and academic staff as part of the institutional drive to ensure our graduates are ready for a highly digitally-enabled workforce. Additionally, you’ll be required to mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Key Responsibilities AI Enablement Programmes Lead and oversee a range of AI enablement programmes to facilitate the growth of AI skills among SIT undergraduate students and academic staff. Develop an AI Competency Roadmap, providing guidance for SIT undergraduate students and academic staff in developing their AI competencies. Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI, ensuring the continued relevancy and currency of the AI enablement programmes and AI Competency Roadmap. Manage AI-related resources within the division such as the administration of software, hardware systems, and equipment. AI Projects Drive AI projects within CoDE to support teaching and learning objectives. Collaborate with industry partners, faculty, Professional Officers and other stakeholders to conduct applied research in AI related technologies. Supervise and mentor students in the development of AI projects. Teaching & Student Mentorship Develop and deliver digital skills literacy related courses or workshops to undergraduate students and staff. This includes development of learning contents and activities, providing consultations on digital skills/technology related queries, and assessment and grading of students’ work. Mentor and facilitate student learning by participating in and managing student projects. Any other matters as directed by Director/Deputy Director of CoDE. Job Requirements A good degree in Computer Science or a related field. Masters, PhD and/or relevant professional certifications would be advantageous. 10+ years of working experience, including at least 5 in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Analytics, or a related area.SIT Internal Proven experience in developing and deploying AI solutions. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar. Proficiency in data preprocessing, model training, and evaluation techniques.
