Staffordshire University is a public university in Staffordshire, England. It has one main campus based in the city of Stoke-on-Trent and three other campuses in Stafford, Lichfield and Shrewsbury. There are six academic departments at the university including computing and digital technologies; creative arts and engineering; health and social care; law, policing and forensics; life sciences and education and the Staffordshire business school. At the campuses in Stafford and Shrewsbury are two Centres of Excellence in healthcare education which provide an innovative learning environment for health and social care students. There are a number of student societies at the university including a Pokemon club, a vegan and vegetarian club, a Harry Potter club, swimming club, a table tennis club and a theme park society. There are also a selection of sports teams that students can join including American football, hockey, lacrosse, trampolining, snow sports, tennis, volleyball and many more. There are libraries across all of the three campuses as well as a dedicated library for the children of mature students, with colourful seating, tables and a story chair. The university has a number of partnerships with universities across the world. These include ESERP Business School, Barcelona, Riinvest College in Kosovo, Gulf College in Oman, Chengdu University of Technology in China, APIIT SD in India, British University Vietnam and the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the USA. Notable alumni include footballer Fabrice Muamba, author, comedian and television presenter Dave Gorman, cricketer Mark Wallace, and Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champion rower Andrew Triggs Hodge.

Ref.: 534083 Work type: Full-time Department: School of Biomedical Sciences (22600) Categories: Professoriate Staff Applications are invited for appointments as Tenure-Track Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (several posts) in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 534083), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract. Applicants should possess: (i) a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in a related discipline; (ii) evidence of international recognition and a strong record of scholarship with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives; (iii) a strong commitment to engaging students in inquiry-based learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and (iv) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publication record and external grants. The appointees are expected to participate in teaching biomedical sciences subjects relevant to human health and diseases spanning basic biochemical, cellular and molecular biology to whole body organization and homeostasis, across a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including medical, biomedical sciences, pharmacy, nursing and/or Chinese medicine. They will also be expected to establish an innovative and well-funded research group that is open to interdisciplinary collaboration. Research should be at the forefront of biology and medicine, spanning basic molecular and cellular processes, developmental and stem cell biology, cancer, body defence systems, neuroscience, bioinformatics and bioengineering. In the course of career development, the appointees are expected to make substantial contributions to the School’s strategic developments in academic and research collaborations locally, regionally and internationally. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of the basic salary. You will have the skills and experience to teach computer science courses for students in the Bachelor of Design in Interface Design. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented post-doctoral researcher to join our research programme in metasurfaces. The position is funded by the three-year Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant “Unwrapping topologically protected light on topologically structured surfaces”.  Building on the University of Southampton’s long-established and internationally recognised strength in metasurface research, this project will focus on developing a new class of metasurfaces for manipulating topologically structured light, with the ultimate aim of enabling intelligent optical sensing. A strong background in the design, nanofabrication, and characterisation of silicon metasurfaces is highly desirable, together with an aptitude for developing new experimental techniques related to this exciting research programme. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate: A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in physics or engineering, specialising in photonic devices. Substantial and authoritative practical knowledge and experience in metasurfaces, supported by detailed understanding. Excellent communication and organisational skills, and a proven ability to work effectively within teams The appointment is for a two-year period, with the possibility of extension, and is ideally expected to start in April 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) at King’s College London is an entity within Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative care that operates and maintain dedicated and technology enhanced facilities spread across different locations at King’s. Clinical education and learning are pivotal in developing and maintaining competencies in health care, by design, SaIL spaces incorporates all the elements required for technology enhanced, innovative education with a strong but not exclusive emphasis on clinical learning and simulation, serving all health faculties for healthcare simulation at King’s. About the role Reporting to Simulation Technical Specialist, working as part of the technical team, the role will provide support to academics in preparing and maintaining classrooms and clinical environment for the delivery of simulation-based education. You will also be responsible in operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining specialised equipment and technology available at the centres The role requires to provide cross-site technical cover and shift work variably between 8am-6pm or 9am-7pm, moving and handling of heavy equipment, and occasionally provide weekend support. This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
