Durham University is seeking to appoint to the post of Director of Health, Safety, Resilience and Security Risk to provide leadership, management, guidance, and support for all aspects of health, safety, business continuity and resilience, and security risk across the University. You will oversee the corporate strategy, objectives, arrangements, and infrastructure for the portfolio, as well as monitoring the levels of compliance, conformity, resilience, and implementation, while keeping the University Executive Committee (UEC) and other senior leaders informed of any issues, providing internal independent advice and guidance, across the University. You will have responsibility for developing and maintaining the associated management systems, and reviewing and refreshing existing policies and processes, as required.In addition, you will develop associated strategies, promote best practices and ensure full compliance while reinforcing a positive risk management culture across the University. This role, while positioned within the University Secretary's Office, has responsibilities that span across the entire University. The post-holder is expected to provide expertise, guidance, and advice to ensure a safe and secure environment for all academic, student, professional service, and visitor-related activities. The African Genome Center (AGC) is seeking to appoint an open-rank faculty member specializing in Population Genomics. This position focuses on investigating genetic variation within and among populations to understand genetic diversity, evolutionary processes, and population dynamics that shape the genomic composition of species. Applicants should demonstrate strong expertise in analyzing population-level genomic data, enabling insights into the distribution and frequency of genetic variation, as well as the ecological, evolutionary, and demographic factors influencing population structure. The successful candidate is expected to have an outstanding publication record in population genomics or closely related fields. In addition, candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to developing an independent research program, strong collaborative skills, and evidence of interdisciplinary research engagement. This position is embedded within a highly interdisciplinary research environment and offers opportunities to interact with researchers across diverse domains, including genome editing, natural product chemistry, microbial engineering, agricultural and environmental biotechnology, metabolic engineering, and microbiology, among others. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include: Supervising graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in population genomics, molecular genetics, and evolutionary biology. Developing and leading collaborative research initiatives in population genomics, with a particular focus on African species. Contributing to institutional research activities, academic programs, and broader scientific and training initiatives. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet the following requirements: A PhD in population genomics, molecular genetics, evolutionary biology, or a closely related field. Postdoctoral research experience is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in population genomics, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and funded or competitive research projects. Description Laboratory for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral research associate to join this new initiative focusing on designing and developing novel medical devices for ultimate human use. Laboratory for Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine oversees a variety of exciting projects developing new treatments and diagnostics for cardiovascular, neurologic, and metabolic diseases. The successful applicant will join a number of fascinating projects on engineering novel approaches to modulate physiology and neural activity in the brain, gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and other peripheral organs. These projects have a high potential for translation towards treating a variety of neurologic and metabolic disorders. These approaches entail device design and manufacturing, drug conjugation, neuroscience, and preclinical model experiments. The candidate will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD-level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full-time researchers. They will also have the chance to contribute to other projects within CENTMED, working on cutting-edge initiatives spanning metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurologic diseases.
