Leading optical firm Carl Zeiss has sponsored a professorship at a German university. A junior professorship in advanced computational photonics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena is also supported by the Ernst Abbe Foundation, which is named after an innovator in optics. The £337,000 sponsorship will last for five years.
