Yiddish row ends

四月 14, 1995

The row over the running of Yiddish studies in Oxford appeared to end this week as the Oxford Institute for Yiddish Studies said that "differences" between the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies and Marie Wright, former Yiddish studies co-ordinator, had been resolved. A statement said litigation against Ms Wright, who quit the centre last September amid a complex dispute over the management of Yiddish studies, had been settled. Ms Wright has been made director of projects at the institute, while David Katz, who was also involved in the dispute, has resigned his fellowship at the centre to become director of research at the Oxford Institute.
