Web authors have the chance to win Pounds 1,000 in a new-media writing competition organised by the Nottingham University-based group trAce and net publishing network Alt-X.
Part of the challenge is for the entrants to help the organisers decide what new-media writing is. As part of their entry, writers are asked to provide a description of their website and what it seeks to achieve creatively and technically, as well as answering the question "What name do you give to the kind of art exhibited on that site?" The deadline for submissions is September 30. This year's judge is Shelley Jackson, author of the acclaimed hypertext novel Patchwork Girl (Eastgate, 1995).
