Work-based training failing, inspector says

Poor quality, high dropout rates and unsatisfactory management dog work-based training in England, according to the chief inspector of adult learning.

In his first report, David Sherlock said that 60 per cent of work-based training was found to be inadequate and that, on average, just a third of the young people starting modern apprenticeships gained a qualification.

He also found that the management of more than half the providers was unsatisfactory. Only one provider out of nearly 300 inspected was outstanding.
