The Diary detects a certain amount of schadenfreude among staff at City University. The recent fire has forced certain senior members of staff to share an open-plan office - vice-chancellor David Rhind, deputy vice-chancellor Steve Miller, secretary Ian Creagh and finance director Frank Toop. The staff newsletter says: "This week, City has its own Big Brother house - Paramount Building - where the senior management team is sharing open-plan accommodation. Who will be the first to crack under the strain?"
