Whistleblowers' complaints analysed

十月 13, 2000

An analysis of complaints received by the Further Education Funding Council between January last year and March this year reveals that there were 19 allegations of fraud and irregularity made by whistleblowers under the Public Interest Disclosure Act of 1998.

A report on the findings says that the FEFC received 50 anonymous complaint letters, along with the 19 allegations. The letters included five claiming misconduct and five attacking employment practices.

Students made the most complaints in the same period under FE charters introduced in 1993. Out of 43 complaints received, 29 were from students, eight from parents, five from members of staff and one from a member of the public.
