Considering he is bidding for the most thankless job in British trade unionism, Fawzi Abrahim is showing some grit in his attempt to become general secretary of lecturers' union Natfhe. This week Natfhe national executive members have received a note telling them that he is called Abrahim, not Ibrahim, the family name under which he has been well-known for years in Natfhe circles. Has he perhaps spotted that being first on the ballot paper did John Akker no harm during his successful bid for the job? If so, has he also noticed what happened to Akker afterwards, including his unplanned departure from the post?
