Vivisection challenge

四月 15, 2005

A High Court judge has ruled that animal-rights campaigners can challenge the legality of animal experiments at Cambridge University.

On Tuesday, Mr Justice Stanley Burnton gave the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection permission to seek a judicial review. The organisation claimed to have evidence that animal welfare laws were not being properly enforced at the university. They said they had found monkeys with the tops of their skulls sawn off.

Cambridge this week issued a statement saying that the Home Office's chief inspector had confirmed there was "no evidence" to support Buav's allegations.
