Vitamin breakthrough

Scientists at Chester University are working to develop a super- vitamin that could reduce the risk of heart disease and dementia. Catherine Birch and John Williams are testing new compounds they say are four times better at breaking down a harmful amino acid than vitamin B12 and folic acid in isolation. Dr Birch said: "These compounds are very stable and the results in our tests have been outstanding. We are hopeful that this could lead to on-the-shelf or prescriptive medication within the next five to six years."
