Extra £32m earmarked for FE
Further education lecturers and support staff will share an extra £32 million allocated for pay this year. The Department for Education and Skill said today that the cash would be split into £20 million for college lecturers and £12 million for non-teaching support staff. The cash will support performance-related payments of £1,000 for lecturers and payments of £500 for support staf in 2002-03. From 2003-04 further education will benefit from annual funding increases of 1 per cent above inflation.

Man pleads 'not guilty' in missing lecturer case
A man has denied killing his missing college lecturer wife. Mother-of-four Linda Razzell, 41, disappeared on March 19 on her way to work at Swindon College. No body has yet been found. At Bristol Crown Court her estranged husband Glyn Razzell, 43, pleaded not guilty to murder. The case was adjourned until a pre-trial review in late October.
