Accusations fly in MP's report on ILA fiasco
MPs are disturbed by the "serious failings" of government officials in setting up and running the ill-fated Individual Learning Account scheme that collapsed amid fraud allegations last autumn. A report on the Commons' education and skills committee's fast-track inquiry heavily criticises the Department for Education and Skills for its failure to learn from past government mistakes. It also censures Capita, the private contractor charged with delivering ILAs.

EU tells researchers to ignore FP6 delays
Researchers have been told to carry on getting together their proposals for the European Union's Sixth Research Framework Programme (FP6), despite a row over ethics that is threatening to delay the programme. Final approval of the €16.2 billion (£10 billion) programme could be pushed into September.
