MRC spin-off company engineering modified mice
A new multi-million pound company that specialises in producing genetically engineered mice with human diseases has been set up by two Medical Research Council scientists. Etiologics Ltd, which has initial venture capital backing of £3.5 million, was spun out of the MRC Mammalian Genetics Unit in Harwell, where frontline research is conducted into the genetic causes of disease.
