Students in Malawi are to be trained in urban and regional planning under a partnership between three universities. The University of Ulster is pairing up with Mzuzu University and Malawi Polytechnic in Blantyre to develop regional-planning degree programmes and find employment for graduates in the sector. It is hoped that the degrees will become models for planning education in southern Africa. The team-up is supported by a £59,700 grant from the Education Partnerships in Africa scheme, awarded to Ulster by Northern Ireland's Department for Employment and Learning and the British Council.
