University of the Arts London - New campus at King's Cross

The art college that taught Antony Gormley and Stella McCartney has won planning permission to build a major campus at King's Cross. The new site for Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, part of University of the Arts London, will feature art, design and dance studios, a theatre, exhibition space, cafes, a bar and roof gardens. The London Borough of Camden has granted Central St Martins planning permission for the area known as the Eastern Goods Yard, where the college will occupy The Granary Complex, a listed building used in the 19th century for the storage and distribution of grain. The new campus will open for the 2011-12 academic year.
