The contract for a UK-wide blood-vessel screening programme to be offered to all men over the age of 65 has been awarded to the University of Salford. The NHS Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme will test for the widening or bulging of the aorta, which can prove fatal if it leads to a rupture. From September, the university's School of Health, Sport and Rehabilitation Sciences will provide training for screening technicians throughout the country.
