University of Salford - Safety in numbers

Partnerships between a university and two further education colleges will benefit 180,000 students as the institutions face up to the UK's new funding climate. The University of Salford has signed separate agreements with the Manchester College and Salford City College, including seamless progression from college to university, shared facilities and widening-participation goals. Martin Hall, Salford's vice-chancellor, said the move was "the beginning of an important new chapter in the history of further and higher education in the North West".
