A project studying the way musicians affected by polio felt about their bodies will consider the careers of Ian Dury, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young. "Spasticus: Popular Music and Disability", led by George McKay, professor of cultural studies at the University of Salford, takes its name from the Ian Dury single Spasticus Autisticus (1981). Professor McKay said his aim was to "examine how these artists made sense of their disabled bodies through their music and lyrics".
