University of Oxford - Cassandra's legacy

七月 1, 2010

A new website has brought together the handwritten manuscripts of Jane Austen. Led by Kathryn Sutherland from the English faculty at the University of Oxford and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the digitisation project was supported by technology developed with the Centre for Computing in the Humanities at King's College London. The physical collection was dispersed following the death of the author's sister, Cassandra, in 1845, but now anyone with an interest in Austen can read her own hand in rare manuscripts previously seen only by a handful of scholars.
