University of Liverpool - A site worth milking

A £1 million investment in upgrading its dairy farm will help the University of Liverpool support farm-animal veterinary education. The university has sunk the money into its Leahurst veterinary campus on the Wirral, which has been rebuilt to house 200 cows. It is one of two farms operated by the university - the other has sheep, cattle and pigs - for teaching and for applied research. Agnes Winter, head of the department of veterinary clinical science, said: "Liverpool has always been strong in farm-animal veterinary education and takes advantage of the concentration of cattle and sheep within the North West."
