The performance of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) during the global financial crisis was scrutinised at an event held by a new research group at the University of Leicester's Centre for European Law and Integration. The event on 8 May marked the tenth anniversary of the FSA's foundation and was one of a series of seminars organised by the Regulation of Financial Markets and Institutions research group, which is investigating the causes of the financial crisis. Andromachi Georgosouli, the group's co-ordinator, said its focus was on "research that makes a real difference to people and society", adding that she was keen to garner views from outside the capital. She said: "All important events about financial markets take place in London. One of the challenges is to decentralise the whole thing."
