University of Gloucestershire - Shrink to fit

A second campus is to be closed by the University of Gloucestershire following its decision to put its site in east London up for sale. Patricia Broadfoot, vice-chancellor of the institution, announced plans to withdraw from the Pittville campus in Cheltenham by 2011, shortly after news broke that the university's London campus would be sold. Plans for a £40 million building at a site in Gloucester have also been shelved. Professor Broadfoot said: "There is significant pressure on us to ensure that we make the best use of our existing buildings. This will involve some estate rationalisation and developing a more effective model of academic delivery."
