University of Essex - Question time

Does it pay to be nice? Why do girls do better than boys at school? Does the fact that your parents smoked mean that you will? These were among the tough questions faced by academics attending the British Household Panel Survey Conference at the University of Essex last week. The conference provided a forum for academics to exchange their long-term research findings and brought together experts in economics, politics, sociology and social psychology.
