University of Essex - Energy boost at Colchester

A new wind turbine has been installed at the University of Essex as part of its drive towards sustainability. The turbine has been placed next to the new School of Health and Human Sciences building on the university's Colchester campus and is expected to generate enough energy to power half the building. Energy manager Richard Frost has already introduced a thermal imaging project to target heat loss from the university's buildings, and the institution has saved 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year with its ongoing insulation programme.
