University of East Anglia - Web tour of Cooke's missives

An archive of scripts written by Alistair Cooke for his famous Letter from America broadcasts will be available to the public for the first time, via the University of East Anglia. The almost 3,000 "letters" written by the late broadcaster and writer amount to an estimated 6 to 7 million words penned between 1946 and 2004 for his Letter series, which was broadcast on BBC radio. The announcement marks the centenary of the birth of Cooke, who died in March 2004 aged 95.
