University of Chichester - Turn to drink during exams

Younger students sitting examinations this month have been advised to drink plenty of fluids after a study suggested that their brains work less efficiently when they become dehydrated. The research, which included work by scientists at the University of Chichester, showed that even relatively low levels of dehydration impaired neural activity. Marcus Smith, principal lecturer in exercise physiology at Chichester, who recruited local teenagers for the study, warned students revising or taking exams in hot conditions to keep hydrated or risk leaving themselves at a disadvantage.
