University of Central Lancashire - Industrial art

A robot with an artistic temperament stole the show at a university exhibition.

"Robotticelli", the brainchild of fine art student Wayne Hill, was described by its creator as the perfect toy for lazy painters.

Appearing in public at the University of Central Lancashire's arts degree show, the robot was put in the hands of visitors, who were able to control its artistic efforts via a series of pressure pads that move its paintbrush, canvas and easel.

Mr Hill said: "I wanted to create an art form that could detach me as the artist, so building the robot was the perfect solution. I am now the audience to my own artwork."
