A search for a new principal and vice-chancellor to replace Duncan Rice has been launched by the University of Aberdeen. Professor Rice is set to step down at the end of his term of office in September 2010 after 14 years in charge, and Aberdeen has appointed international recruitment consultancy Saxon Bampfylde to lead the hunt for his successor. Don Cruikshank, a lay member of the university's court, said the institution was looking for someone who would ensure that Aberdeen becomes "one of the ... great international universities".
