University College London - Resistance movement

Antibiotic resistance in bacteria found in humans is to be investigated by a £4.5 million research project led by University College London. The project, funded by a European Community grant, will involve nine European partners and will be co-ordinated by UCL's Eastman Dental Institute. It will focus on the emergence and persistence of antibiotic resistance, which is exhibited by the majority of bacterial species for which antibiotic treatments are available, including organisms responsible for skin, bone, lung and bloodstream infections.
