Ulster/Queen's Belfast - Mixed couples are better off

Couples in mixed Protestant-Catholic relationships in Northern Ireland tend to be more educated and to have higher incomes than those in traditional relationships, according to research from the Northern Ireland Social and Political Archive, Ark, a joint initiative between the University of Ulster and Queen's University Belfast. Gillian Robinson of Ulster, who is Ark's director, said: "The survey evidence shows a very slow increase in the numbers of people entering a mixed relationship over the past two decades in Northern Ireland, but the numbers are still small."
