Tribunal leaves Mason Pounds 156,700 out of pocket

(Photograph) - The former principal of Glasgow Caledonian University had his compensation for dismissal cut from Pounds 168,000 to Pounds 11,300 by an employment tribunal this week.

The Glasgow tribunal found that Stan Mason was at least half responsible for his dismissal nearly two years ago. It had reconvened after an appeal tribunal overturned its original ruling that Dr Mason had been unfairly dismissed and should be given his job back with compensation for lost earnings.

At this week's hearing the tribunal criticised Dr Mason's conduct in connection with two job appointments, one of them his daughter-in-law's.
