Tissues bill amended

The Human Tissues Bill has been modified following fears that it would criminalise medical research. In its original form, the bill outlawed research using any human tissue without explicit prior consent. The Government has amended the bill to allow scientists to assume that tissue taken from living patients can be used for research unless patients specify otherwise.
