Times Higher Education appoints new editor

June 5, 2008

Ann Mroz has been appointed editor of Times Higher Education.

The current deputy editor of the magazine, who has been responsible for editing the features and books sections, Ms Mroz has been with Times Higher Education for more than 14 years. She was instrumental in the publication's successful relaunch in January.

Gerard Kelly is leaving the editor's post to take up the editorship at the Times Educational Supplement.

Ms Mroz said: "I am delighted to be taking over as editor after such a successful relaunch. It's an exciting time as Times Higher Education builds on that success.

"It will be a pleasure to lead such a talented team of journalists and to work with such an important and vibrant sector."

Louise Rogers, managing director of Times Higher Education's parent company, TSL Education, said: "I have enjoyed working with both Gerard and Ann on the highly successful relaunch of Times Higher Education." She added that Ms Mroz's "influence, drive and ambition for the title has played a significant role in the success of the recent relaunch ... her promotion to editor is much deserved."

Mr Kelly said he was very sad to be leaving Times Higher Education after 17 years, but would be staying in close contact with the publication at the helm of its sister title.

The changes have been made with immediate effect.
