Education union leaders displayed a remarkable consensus at a higher education fringe meeting at this week's Liberal Democrat conference in Glasgow. Panellists David Triesman of the Association of University Teachers, John Akker of the National Association of Teachers in Further and Higher Education, and Jim Murphy of the National Union of Students, all turned up with colour-coordinated ties in a fetching navy blue and pale yellow.
