Charm school Lucie Clayton College - described as an alternative to university for post A-level students - is to merge with business school St James's College. The merger marks the end of an era.

Lucie Clayton principal Judith Kark said: "Lucie Clayton has a strong history and association with finishing and grooming. Several of the courses at the new college will continue to include sessions in presentation, image and business etiquette. [However] deportment, table laying and getting into and out of a sports car will not be revived."
